I could lie and say the politically correct thing and make everyone feel warm and fuzzy, but I'd rather not. Not that I don't want you feeling warm and fuzzy...
Anyway, no, I don't discriminate against people with mental disorders... I work with the elderly and my ladies are not mentally well because of illness or age.
Dealing with eating disorders would not be a problem for me, either...I used to have one. But when you get into untreated bipolar and personality disorders, those can be difficult to deal with. That's why some end up on their own. I would not care to be around those who wouldn't/couldn't bring those disorders under control. The ones I have dealt with are verbally abusive and hard to get along with.
I would neither date not commit for life to a man with such a disorder, treated or untreated unless I knew it was right for both of us.

That's like asking if someone discriminates against short people! Mental illness is just that... an illness. It is not a choice that we make. I have had sever depression all my life and at times I do have a hard time functioning. I take medication daily and have raised my family and have a career in nursing that I love. My husband of 23 years is very supportive and I love him for it.
Just because someone is slightly different doesn't mean thay have to be carrying a great big red flag. After all, what is NORMAL?

Would I date someone with a mental disorder? HELLLL NOO! I enjoy life and I want to be here on earth for awhile. I mean they can't help that they have a problem but I refuse to take on another persons problem. There are so many bi-polar people these days for all i know I might be one? There are some people that you can tell aren't wrapped too tight but how do you determine who has a mental disorder? We should accept people for who they are.

I divorced a man that was bipolar because he had a wealth of other issues as well. Mental illness is a disease just like any other. Some people do well managing it and can live normal lives, some can't. Having grown up in a family with mental illness and then marrying a man that was mentally ill I fell for them, it is a hard way to live.

Nice. I think we're all struggling in life. It's just more obvious on those with mental disorders and other disabilities. I don't think it makes much of a difference. Nothing is ever a sure thing. I wouldn't discriminate.

I am friends with several individuals that have mental disorders. I do not discriminate against anyone for any reason. That is just wrong and ignorant.

People with mental disorders have diseases and need help and they should not be ostracized for that. I am friends and family with many Bi-Polar people since it runs in my family. Also Downes Syndrome runs in my family. I look at the person inside.. we all have something which makes us imperfect. If we used any little flaw to not be friends with someone no one would have any friends at all and the world would be full of lonely people.
