Hi im a orthopaedic plaster technician so i deal with this injuries alot.Once the plaster cast comes off you will not need any sort off physio ,there is no physio at all for fractured metatarsals, physio will not help the healed fracture at all,the fracture will heal itself in the cast, you may loose abit off muscle wastage due to being in the cast and that all,the muscle wastage will come bck once you start to mobilise your leg again.Your cast will come off probably have another x-ray,then partial weight bear with crutches untill you feel you are reday to use without, and untill your leg is used to being without its cast this wont be long thou. You may notice slight swellen to the metatarsal area but that will go down.Any further problems you have see your GP or go bck to the orthopaedic clinic for advice.Good Luck.

OMFG! Grow up! Its only your little toe! You can still walk with a broken toe! heck you can still do anything with a broken toe! Except playing a game where you need your 5th metatarsal.

Yeah you will. I had several months with my ankle, but my dad did his metatarsal and he had to. Mind you he is getting on a bit.

Hardly, It is such a small bone, you may not need a cast unless it is really mangled. I broke so many of those little pests and I never had a cast. Suck it up. You will be OK

You may need physio because your leg will be mobilised in the same position for weeks and you will get slight muscle wastage - dont worry it will just be for a while to strengthen your leg xx
