They are a cool little car. They have always reminded me of the old hot wheels cars.
Don't be fooled by their size, they can actually carry quite a bit. I just got a 2005 Dark Plum Pearl Coat on Feb 1st this year. I have been wanting this car since it came out. I love it!! This is without a doubt the best car I have owned, I have owned 8 different cars.
Don't listen to people who have not owned one, they don't know what the heck they are talking about!!
I am doing a lot of personalizations to my car, nothing extreme but enough to personalize it my way, plates and things.
As far as the engine, I find it has a little more power than a lot other 4 cylinder cars, but you have to remember it is only a 4 cylinder.... if you want a lot more horsepower you need to go to a V6 or V8, at least we can save bucks on gas with the smaller engine!

Pay no attention to Mr. Tampa Bay, he clearly has masculinity issues.
I bought a new PT Cruiser three years ago, and love it. It was designed well to carry any number of things, and I find it super convenient for loading & schlepping everything from groceries to my floor harp.
But, I'm with you on the power problem; I wish they'd come out with the same car with a V-6, and I'd buy it tomorrow.
P.S. Chrysler designed the PT Cruiser to appeal to young men (believe it or not), but it turned out to be most popular with women in their 30s (which is hardly decrepit).

I am on my second PT. first i had a 03 and now a 06 limited production. This ride draws attention day or by night with the LED light's underneath and the bright color of solar yellow so they say the highest visible color they make. It's the Route 66 edition and its for sale ! Personal transportation at its best for a old man ! I have traveled mostly the flatlands in south Ga. and Fl. And it has plenty of zip for me. If you need more power i am pretty sure you can add a turbo charger.

The PT Cruiser is available with a turbo high output option. Obviously not on first gen. Cruisers. They're built well and reliability is actually better than the Neon it is based on.

Rented one in Tampa Bay and I wasnt pleased. For someone with kids in their 40's maybe but not for someone under 30. Makes alot of noise when you punch the pedal but doesnt go anywhere. Handles like a caravan. Wouldnt suggest one.

I just brought a 2001 LTD fully loaded and only 41,000 km and I love it. I am a Mom in my early thirty's and it has a ton of room on the inside and is wonderful to drive, my Daughter just loves it also. There is plenty of power for me :)

it just a neon with additional body weight!! the neon is a turd as far as performance, so of course the PT is going to be worse!!
you need to look into a turbocharger for decent power if you want to keep it!!
