I don't mean to gross anyone out but what color should the discharge be when you are pregnant? Okay I have been spotting brown blood for about 3 weeks now and it is getting less everyday. A couple days ago i quit spotting and started having yellowish clear discharge. But then the spotting returned. Today I went to the bathroom and wiped and it was discharge again but it looked kinda brownish tan. I think that it may be mixed with a little of the brown blood that I have been having. I don't go to the doctor for until the 10th. But when I made the appt I asked the nurse about the brown spotting and she said that it sounded like old blood. Has anyone ever done this? I am going to the doctor I just want to know if anyone has ever done this.

I know that my baby is going to be fine. I prayed about it and I asked God to let me and my baby be healthy and I believe that Everything is fine.

Yes it is normal to have colored discharge during pregnancy. A lot of women do spot during their first 3 months, if not their whole pregnancy. Don't worry about it if there is a serious problem the Dr. will tell you about when you go see him. I personally spotted for 4 months while i was pregnant and it looked the same way and I didn't have any problems with the baby.

There are several things that can cause spotting when you are pregnant. If it is a small amount, I wouldn't get overly concerned about it. But I would take it easy, put your feet up and relax often.
Migrating or low lying Placenta can cause spotting as well, sometimes the entire pregnancy. If you are spotting and running a fever, or you have lower back pain or abdominal pain, go to the emergency room and get it checked out.
There is a mucus plug between your vagina and the amniotic sack that helps protect the baby. Sometimes that will have some discharge that is yellow or milky in color. (I've been pregnant six times and this has happened in two)

There really shouldn't be much. And certainly anything that looks like blood needs to be checked by a Dr. immediately, since it has gone on so long. Better safe than sorry.

The only normal discharge during pregnancy is kind of milky white, mild smelling or odorless, it's the same discharge a not pregnant lady would have, but pregnant women get more usually. But anything else needs to be checked. Don't wait for your appointment.

Sweetie, I would either insist on getting in to see your OBGYN NOW, not on the 10th, or I would go to the ER. I don't want to scare you, but I have had four miscarriages, and it really sounds like what I went through. If you were a lot further along, I wouldn't think that, but it's a bit concerning this early on. Now you could just be one of those women that has some spotting during pregnancies, I actually had bleeding for the first 14 weeks of my pregnancy with my third child, and I carried him to term and he was healthy as can be! But I would go and get checked out. Don't let that nurse tell you it's nothing to worry about over the phone, insist on getting in to see the doctor, and if you can't, like I said, go to the ER.
Good luck.

There is such thing as implantation bleeding. U get in when the egg is being implanted in the uterus. The discharge can be cloudy, yellow, clear, or white. If you feel any unusual pains like severe cramping in the uterus or womb or side consult a doctor immediately. Spotting is a sign of implantation bleeding. Brown blood is old blood. Spotting should appear pinkish or light red. I think you should try and take a test just incase.

I had the same kind of thing early on, I had a brownish discharge for almost two weeks ...it surprises me that your doctor didn't have you in immediately...mine had me come in right away, the day it started, he did an internal exam and then sent me for an ultrasound...everything was fine...but it was nice for them to make sure....

They told me that sometimes it's the uterus stretching, and also the cervix is becoming more sensitive so, it has a tendency to bleed sometimes...especially after sex...

You probably have nothing to worry about...just make sure you keep your doctor informed of everything...and if the discharge upgrades to bleeding and is accomanied by ANY cramping...call the doctor immediately.

Good Luck!

I spotted a bit when I was pregnant. It does just sound like old blood. If it was RED then I would worry. But you told the nurse when you made the appointment, and that was the right way to go about it. Just make sure you mention it to the doc when you go.

When it comes to the health of your children, even in utero, DEMAND to be seen and or get a second opinion whenever you have a concern. Your instinct is what matters most. Often times, women are taught to be so polite that their needs get looked over. Now that you're a Mom, you may need to be that demanding beotch you'd swear you'd never be. You have the right, and your kids need you to be. Something could be wrong with the baby. Probably not, but a good Dr. would want to see you right away, just to be sure.

I have heard that before too. When you are pregnant you don't get your period, so you have to get rid of the old blood. Otherwise I would say watch out for cramping, thiscould be signs of miscarriage. But if you asked the nurse about it. If she was at all worried she would have told you to come in right then. I would take her word for it. And if you are worried. Make an appointment asap. They can't tell you no if you are worried about miscarrying. Get in there if you'll feel better. GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Brownish spots are old blood (not freshly bleeding) Sometimes it will happen during pregnancy after sex. If you mentioned it to the nurse and she wasn't concerned, probably okay. 3 weeks does sound a little long to spot, if it becomes bright red or heavily increases, I would seek help.
