Well, all those answers are good advice, but, here's an alternative to all the hd crash answers.. where is the sound coming from? How adept are you with puters? It is possible that it could be the fan bearings in your power supply are burning out and you need to replace that. I suggest that, if you aren't familiar with the system, ie, what sounds come from where, get a tech minded friend to check it for you, BEFORE taking it to an expensive shop to get it repaired.
Power supply is cheaper and easier to replace than the hard drive, or most any of the other suggestions.

Based on your description, it appears that your hard drive has had a major failure, and is probably not working anymore. This happens, but rarely.
I hope that you backed up your important data (pictures, videos, Word, Excel documents). You will need to get a new hard drive, install the operating system, program, and then all your data (if you did back up).
If your computer is still under warranty, and you are not comfortable with restoring your computer on your own, I would exercise the warranty.

Check all the fans on the inside to make sure there is no dust clogging them up. it might have overheated if one of the fans malfunctioned because once your CPU gets too hot it becomes sluggish and crashes, and then it automatically shuts down as a self protection tool.

Do you know what kind of motherboard you have. It seems that the BIOS has crashed. If you overclocked the system open up your pc and reset the jumpers. If you don't know how to do that remove the battery for about 10 seconds and then reinstall it.

Replace the hard drive. It sounds like it was damaged. If the information on your damaged one is important, I would recommend taking it to a professional to perform data recovery on it.
