The main reason we are the same species is because we can interbreed and produce viable offspring, which is the defintion of a species. Taxonomically, each race could be labeled as a seperate subspecies, by taxonomic features, like hair types, nostril shape, a whole slew of things, but I guess that would be racist???

Species are a classification of organisms that can interbreed which each other and produce healthy offspring. Races are designations for humans based on the color of their skin or origin of birth/ancestory.

For example, birds on Galapogos can be extremely similar. However two different types of birds that cannot come together and mate naturally (in the wild) are classified as different species. We humans are of the same species because regardless of race, humans can reproduce to have healthy children.

Race=/=Species.

No. Race is more like breed or variety. For example, horses, dogs, cats, cows, pigs, sheep, and goats all come in different breeds yet they are the same species. Most fruit, vegetable, cereal, and ornamental plants come in multiple varieties within the species.

Humans are the same way with races. A race is just another variety of humans.

The definition of species is being able to reproduce with it, so since people of all races can have babies, we are all the same species. Race is closer to breed in many household pets, like dogs and cats.
