My computer's max memory capacity is 256, and the hardrive i currently have now is 30gb. If i upgrade to a bigger hardrive will i be able to upgrade the memory to 512 or will it always stay at 256 max since it is the computer's max ability? I have windows Me.

You'll have more room for a really huge swapfile.

There is no relatio between your Memory(RAM) and Hard disk. Your Memory capacity depends on your motherboard type. How much your motherboard supports Memory. On that basis only you can increase your memory.

And its not required to upgrade your memory while upgrading your hard disk...

I am using 256 MB with my 80 GB Hard disk.... Still it works amazing....

The hard disk size has nothing to do with the RAM memory. If you are not very concerned about memory access speed, you can use the Hardisk for virtual memory (Paging File).

A hard drive doesn't change your memory size. By the way you might not be able to even upgrade your hard drive.

No you wont! If 256 megs of ram is the largest amount your mobo supports you will need a new mobo...

The memory will stay same as that is matched to your main/motherboard
