Most people recommend taking lessons but I didn't. I just bought a decent guitar and searched the net for chord sheets and songs I like tabed out. (meaning someone has written out how to hold and strike stings for you) once you learn a few chords it's really easy to pick up

Nope but if you want to teach yourself go to a local music store and find misic books
