Do you have to do the Core hardware AND the os exam to become A+ certified?

I read somewhere that the core exam carries far greater wieght.

The cert is not issued until you pass both.

I am taking my first stab next friday, take as many "exam cram" simulated test as you can. I am getting 85-93% on each 90 question simulated exam. When I stay consistently over 90 I will be ready to plunk down $150
