Is it wrong?

to look down on people who cheat? I know that it's supposed to be a majority of people that do cheat, but I just can't help but think people who do are immature and not worth my time. I know a lot of good people cheat, so I don't know why I feel this way. How do I change my thinking on this one?

You write of good people who cheat. I can't help but wonder what you mean by good people.

Of course, their are milder versions of cheats, such as someone who takes a quick finger lick off of a cake. Or one who makes sure to grab her drumstick out of the bucket before anyone else gets a chance. There are much more serious cheats than this.

It's a matter of ethics. Some have a more well developed sense of that. Is it really a cheat if you fudge the speed limit when there is not much traffic? Is it still cheating if you continue to fudge when the traffic builds up? At what, arbitrary point does it stop being cheating and become dangerous driving?

The ethical dilemma is not where that arbitrary point lies. It is that someone is considering that there IS a point under which driving over the speed limit is all right. Remember, that point will be different for each person.

The person who decides for himself that rules do not apply may make that determination at ANY time, including at such times YOU do not make that distinction.

The question comes right back at you. Is it wrong to cheat?Are people who cheat "good" people? Perhaps you DON"T need to change your way of thinking.

Cheating is never good. Everything you do, you must give it your best in the most conscientious way. Understand that first. I'm pretty sure you have.

Try to find a way to be understanding to those people. Instead of thinking, "Urgh! They cheated. They must be pathetic." Be understanding that they must want to succeed really bad, that's why they cheated. And that their intentions were at least considerable. Or like you said, everybody has to cheat once in a while, because of their situation, because of their circumstances or whatever. (And I did mention that cheating is BAD!!). Then think of it this way, Albert Einstein must had cheated sometimes, that did not make him a bad person. Bill Gates must had cheated on his tests back in high school a few times, but that did not mean he would become a failure.

Be understanding.

I take it you are talking about cheating on a spouse, mate etc. The ones that cheat are nothing but scum. They can try to make themselves think its ok but its a sin. Thats whats wrong with the world today, people think its ok to break the rules as long as they are happy, doesn't matter who gets hurt in the long run! Selfish scum!!!!

I am not sure what you mean by "cheat". Do you mean like cheating at a game or do you mean cheating on your partner?
It is wrong to look down on anyone although it is hard not to. And it is very hard not to look down on cheaters of any kind.

It is wrong to cheat. If somebody tries to convince you that it's normal, they are wrong. Not everybody cheats. You should be with somebody who respects you enough to only be with you. It's out there. Don't settle!

it is wrong for me to judge anyone so that is how i get past things like that....i am human, capable of making the same mistakes as my fellow human beings....who am i to judge? keeps me smiling and laughing (at myself most of the time)
