in response to sitting down like a female while urinating, the male bladder is positioned differently and works better from an upright position than a crouching one

Alright...good topic, but I'm sure thi s is not gonna get you laid.

My view on the topic! It's like this, women need the seat down, all the time. I need the seat down once a day. More often than not, the seat will be left down, and I don't mind picking it up when I have to pee. I don't see why women get so bent out of shape about having to put it down. Equality right...whatever.

It would be equal, if not for one little thing, a little force called gravity. Every time I lift the seat, I fight gravity, and every time my woman puts it down, gravity helps her out. So who is doing the most work here. I say, that's not fair. If we really want to live in a world where men and women are equal, tell your women that they should put the seat up after they take a dump!

Most women teach their son's to wipe off the toilet seat and/or surrounding areas by the age of 2 yrs. Any man who has ever fallen into a toilet filled with pissy water because of the previous user, can understand why women get so upset when men actually forget to put the seat down. Imagine walking into the job interview of your lifetime dream job and you have the odor of a camode on your person because the person before you was too inconsiderate to recall that others may be using this darn restroom after mmmmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeee

It's simple, women are too lazy to have to lower a toilet seat every time they need to go.

And men are to lazy to have to lift the seat every time (because, well we don't always have to ;-) ) or to put the seat down.

Also, first thing on your mind we you've just finished peeing isn't 'Oh yeah, I need to put the seat down, just in case a female happens to be the next person to use it.'

Personally, I think everyone should put both the seat and the lid down after every use, before flushing, as this is much more hygienic: "Dr. Gerba has also studied germ counts in the house, and by doing so, discovered the right way to flush the toilet. You should flush with the lid down.

If you flush with the lid up, a polluted plume of bacteria and water vapour erupts out of the flushing toilet bowl. The polluted water particles float for a few hours around your bathroom before they all land. Some of them will land on your tooth brush." -http://www.abc.net.au/science/k2/moments/s1143577.htm-

It's also more presentable, imagine walking into a someones bathroom and right in front of you is this lovely pee encrusted toilet seat or yummy murky water??

So clearly it's in everyone's interest for both men and women to put both the seat and the lid down every time you use the toilet. There would also be far less arguments over who did or didn't do what as we would all have to lift our respective parts up and then put them down too.

Here's my take on it. I ALWAYS check the seat before and after I use it. I don't want to sit on it if it's nasty, and I don't want to leave it nasty for the next person. If you're the only other person in the house using it, it's GOT to be your pee.

Many guys don't hit their target on the first try. They may overshoot and hit the bottom part of the raised seat. If hit just right, the pee can dribble down to the front side, only to be revealed when I lower the seat.

OR

Many guys drip a little when they're finishing up. There's also the famous shake. Your shake might just be ferocious enough to land pee on the raised seat as I mentioned above.

Trust me on all of this. I've thought about it in-depth. ;)

Personally i always put the seat and lid down ..... or hadnt u thought that when you flush the toilet with the lid up all the germs are gonna go into the air. Dont know about you but my toothbrush is in front of my washbasin in a mug and i aint getting **** bacteria on that !!!!!! ewwwwww As for the seat ... well my mum had a little sign above the toilet in her house that said "If you sprinkle, when you tinkle, be neat and wipe the seat" Guess it has stuck as i still do.

Domestic urinals are not entirely suitable for men. Compare them with public ones. I am sure that men are a little thoughtless at times, but it is not entirely their fault. Women would not tolerate it if the position was reversed. I have even known women who insist that their men sit down all the time, whatever they are doing. That is like saying, " I own the toilet and you will do as I tell you".

As a woman, I say to the other women that actually DO complain about this..quit being lazy and put the lid down yourselves. Why should the men always have to accommodate YOUR needs. Do you put it UP for them after you get done every time? I live in our house with 3 males..my husband and our two boys...learn to deal with it and quit whining like a bunch of pissy pants.

Hey not all women complain about it. We just use the guys washcloth to clean up his mess.

Seriously, I lift up the toilet seat when I am done going so as to avoid a mess. But it doesn't matter, men and boys still manage to miss the bowl altogether.

Kids in the house? Visiting? Then seat AND Cover should be put down. Toddlers have drowned from falling in head first and not being able to get out on their own.

We complain because you don't put the seat back down AFTER you go to the bathroom. Not before.. that would defeat the purpose of putting the seat up!
