I see literally hundreds of SSNs every day and I keep all of them secret. I can't think of a situation where I would want to ruin someone's life for a few thousand dollars.

I wouldn't tell. I work with Social Security numbers everyday in my job. But, there are those others that would tell. Trust me, don't tell me either! : )
