or should I wait until I lose a little bit of weight I am 30 lbs over my ideal weight. I want a baby so bad but I want the baby to be healthy as well as me during my pregnancy. I have been trying to get pregnant without any luck, my doctor wants to start me on clomid and I am currently taking metformin (PCOS) should I start the clomid or should I try to lose the weight then go for the clomid?? I need so advice?

*I found this information online and I wanted to let you know before you read it that I was overweight when I had both of my kids and they came out perfectly healthy and still are to this day. One is 6 years old and the other is 1.

"Doctors have long known that very obese women risk pregnancy complications, but new research indicates that even women who are not hugely overweight have elevated risks," says Hugh M. Ehrenberg, M.D., of Case Western Reserve School of Medicine in Cleveland.

The list of potential complications is formidable: hypertension, preeclampsia and eclampsia, gestational diabetes (which can lead to overly large babies), Cesarean delivery and postoperative complications.

There's more: A new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study confirmed that a woman who is overweight before becoming pregnant is two to three times more likely to have a baby with heart abnormalities, spina bifida or other birth defects.

i'm more that that overweight when i was pregnant with my daughter and when i was pregnant i lost 23 lbs then about 10-15 more after she was born because of breastfeeding...my daughter came out perfectally healthy even though she was 5 weeks early! I dont know much about metformin or clomid but the doc would have told you that you would need to loose weight before taking it or not so i would say go for it

There is no point in trying to lose weight and then have a baby, just wait until after, then you won't have to do it twice. The baby won't be any less healthy

I heard that women that are anywhere from 15-45 lbs. overweight have the most healthiest babies, just make sure you eat healthy and exercise before and during your pregnancy.
