Carol Burnett has stared in a lot of plays and movies for TV so I'm not sure to what you are referring. However, on the Carol Burnett show, her most memorable character was "Thelma" in the Vicky Lawrence skits of Mama's Family.

Well, she was in the Carol Burnett show and she played quite a few characters. She's my FAVORITE redhead, and my favorite comedienne..... (now you probably know how old I am, and that I'm a redhead myself). LOL
Early in her career, Carol Burnett and her producer/husband Joe Hamilton discovered the perfect format to showcase Burnett's comic genius--the musical variety show, a TV equivalent of the cabarets and clubs in which she had honed her timing and audience rapport. Burnett's natural warmth and apparent friendliness, her gift for mimicry and all-stops-out spoofing (especially the now classic "Mildred Fierce", "From There to Eternity", "Torchy Song" and "Yonder Went the Wind" parodies of well-remembered Hollywood features), supplemented by her ability to gather around her a "family" ensemble of talented comic actors (Harvey Korman, Vicki Lawrence, Tim Conway, Lyle Waggoner), catapulted her series into a top-rated and award-winning hit and made her an audience favorite for twelve consecutive years.
My favorite of her characters was the skit when she was Scarlett O'Hara.

Nora Desmond, Mama, Mrs. a-Wiggins, were all popular characters she played. She also played Scarlett O'Hara in a spoof of Gone With The Wind.

I don't know what actress you're thinking of, but she was "Mama's" daughter, Eunice. I loved the spoof of gone with the wind too- when she snatched the draperies, rod and all, and wore them. :o) Tim Conway always broke everyone up, especially Harvey. I hope they rerun their "reunion" show. I've seen it twice, and they all still crack me up. They all look good, and Lyle Waggoner is still a dreamboat. woo-hoo!. Carol started on the Garry Moore show. You youngsters might not remember that one.
