You can register online.

To britsurfer1, all male US citizens between the ages of 18 and 25 are REQUIRED to register with Selective Service.

Quote from http://www.sss.gov/FSbenefits.htm

"Registration is the law. A man who fails to register may, if prosecuted and convicted, face a fine of up to $250,000 and/or a prison term of up to five years.

Even if not tried, a man who fails to register with Selective Service before turning age 26 may find that some doors are permanently closed."

Also, if the OP is going to college he must register if he wants to be eligible for financial aid.

A male who turns 18 is required to register with the Selective Service. We have had a Volunteer Military for over 25 years, so - short of an all out World War III, you won't be drafter into the military.

Go to your nearest Post Office. They have registration cards that you need to complete and send in. Get an extra copy for your own records and note on it the date you mailed the other card in. This should cover your situation. Good Luck.

There isn't an enlistment in progress so i doubt they will fine you or throw you in prison. It may have been a form to say 'in case of enlistment you will be called up' and the form was so they had you on file.
