This depend to your level
if yiou are begginner try the Dummy's series - **** are good for begginners and this dont mean that yiu are dummy it is anly a Joke;
If you are intermediate try to combine this books with the books about scripting - the O'Reilly series are good
If you are advanced try for a specific taskor program or for a pattern design - the manning publication are good a also a book of Sergio Pereira about web design Patterns

I'd decide on what IDE I was going to use (Dreamweaver, Visual Studio, Notepad), then buy a book specific to it. That will serve you best.
