Over the past couple of weeks in the shower I have started to notice more and more strands of my hair falling out. I didn't think anything of it at first, but more and more just keeps coming out each day. I used to have a full thick head of hair, but now am noticing that it's becoming thinner and thinner. I thought maybe it's my shampoo, but I don't know. My dad is almost 50 and has a full set of hair, and my brother is 16 and has the same type of hair as well, come to think of it most of the males on my dad's side of the family have a full set of hair. The thing is though my mom has a problem with hair loss and her brother and father both are pretty much bald. So I just don't know what to do I used to love to wear my hair long and don't want to shave it or cut it short cause i have some acne scars on my forehead. this really sucks.

Well hair loss is a genetic problem that is dominate in women. First of all, are strands falling out or is it breaking off. If it's just breaking off it may be due to some sort of stress, your diet, hair products, or medications. But if all these things don't apply to you then you just may be because of your mom's genes, unfortunately.

As for your acne scars on your forehead, once you cut your hair short, all those scars will clear up. I'm speaking from experience, sort of. I use to wear bangs all the time and my whole forehead was nothing but dark scars from pimples. I combed my hair back and let it grow out in the front and now I have no sign of any scars on my forehead. Yeah you'll be self conscience about it I can't lie about that (i was in jr high) but it will work. It's up to you though.

Back to the hair thing, definately talk to your doctor about it. And if it can't be fixed, just shave it all off. It maybe a sexy look for you, but if you don't like it let it grow back but keep it short.

Hope I was helpful

When my hair's short, I don't notice it shedding. When it's longer, I do. Also, it's summer, so you're going to shed a bit (same as animals moult or shed their fur in summer, and grow thicker coats in winter). Genetics is a tough thing to predict. There's no way to tell if you have your mom's or your dad's hair, so see a doctor if you're really concerned. Other than that, just deal with it. It's nothing that you can really do anything about, and some women really get attracted to bald men.

Baldness is inherited on your mother's side of the family. My cousin started going bald at 16.

Baldness in a person come from his mother side. If your mother's dad (your grandpa) is bald, more than likely you or one or more of your brothers if you have any have the tendency to become bald.

it is very possible that you are. my boyfriend started going bald at 20 as well. I think it is genetic because his father had the same thing. but go to the doctor and get it checked out before you start tripping.

you are not going bald at 20. it could be the shampoo, what you eat, or a vitamin diffiency. try a multivitamin, a new strengthening shampoo, and dont eat fattty fast foods, that kills hair. also if your stressed, that could be the reason as well.

You can lose hair due to stress or hormone imbalances. At your age your horomones are all over the map.
