I started just over one month ago at a fine jewelry store. I'm trying my hardest, but I just don't think I'm doing a great job and I don't like it there. I've got two months left before my probational period after being hired is up. I think the only reason they would keep me is because the store is understaffed. (5 people) I just updated my resume on Monster last night and this morning I've alredy gotten FOUR calls from it. Should I call them back and interview with them?

Yes, go talk to them. I see the following reasons for you to do so:

1) You are not happy at your current job and life is honestly too short
2) Having as many options open as possible is always good
3) Even if you end up not wanting to take any of those jobs, talking to other people and finding out what they are doing is always a good part of learning and of comparing whether what you do is or isn't what can make you happy in life

Good luck in your job hunt!

Hula S, Personally I can't work where I'm not happy, I'm an artist, although following your heart can hurt at times, it can also lead someone into a happier career. If the only reason they might keep you is staffing issues, then you'd probably be let go before long anyways.

I wanted to give you a word of warning about Monster: They are a fine reputable company who gets a lot of people great jobs. However, job search is free to us, the potential employee but employers have to pay them for the data base of available workers. Where the problem comes in at is that Monster deals with any company that pays them with-out regard to who they are (meaning that I have been contacted by many of the same scam artists that rip-people off on-line, taking advantage of those in need). All that I am saying is good luck and proceed with extreme caution. I wish you well.

yes i think you should call them back and have an interview with them!!!. YOU gotta try other things out and if you dont really like working there well you are not going to enjoy it might as well just quit but stay there until they give you an answer from Monster. Good luck ! and i tell you this you better like the job you do because if you dont that wont be really satisfying.

There's nothing wrong with bettering yourself and finding a better job. But you need to be careful about leaving jobs after such a short work history with them. You don't want to get the reputation of being a "job hopper". That looks bad on a resume.

If you are not happy there, it couldn't hurt to call them back and get some more information on the jobs. If none of them sound right for you you could always keep trying.
You should never stay in a position that you are not happy with, it will make your life terrible.

Absolutely! You have to take risks if you ant to get what you want. RIght now, you have a 100% chance of being in a job you hate because you won't try somewhere else. Otherwise, you could be happy and respected. Be yourself and you can't go wrong. You have the power!!

of course... I have found out that if you get stuck in a job that you don't really care for, You'll end up being mad at yourself for not ever trying something you may like better.. I had to quit my last job and I am in such a better mood than I was for the past 8 years..

Go on the interviews, even if you do not take the jobs. Going on an interview keeps you motivatived, sharp and you get better at the interview process.

Yes. I mean, why post your resume online unless your serious about a career change. Besides, being miserable in your job leads to a miserable life. Good Luck!
