I've been trying to land my axel consistently for years now. I'm 25 years old and skating isn't as easy as it used to be. Are there any tips to help with it?

Okay, you sound abit like me. I'm 22 and I've been stuck at the axel for nearly 5 years now, its on the verge of getting depressing. Surprisingly, I managed to land a few lately, and i hope this time it will stay.

Get used to off ice axels, then try to get the same feeling on the ice. Different techniques work for different people. This is mine -
1. make sure the back outside edge isnt too curved
2. shift my weight slowly from back to front (back outside edge to forward outside edge)
3. jump as my right leg swings past my left. usually i wait too long to jump and then my right leg isnt adding to the 'lift' anymore.
4. swing my arms close to my body in a 'V' shape, so my hands end up right at my chest, instead of about a foot from my chest.
5. kick up high with my right foot/leg, quickly bring R foot down and cross the L.
6. stand up tall and turn my head to the left
7. squeeze!!!

oh yeah. i forgot - i hate the harness because i can land the axel so easily on it, but it feels SO different without the harness, so i never use it anymore.

well, it would be harder the older you get!
You gotta sstay tight in the whole jump and go for it. I think you've heard this everywhere you ask this question, because I sure have!...
Dont be afraid of the jump. i did waste quite a while being afraid of it. but now i got my axel, and once you get it, its real fun!

Have yo landed it well on the harness? If so, it's probably a fear thing. Think bend, jump straight through, snap and bend. Don't over think it, i did and it cause so many mental problems. Don't stress about it.
p.s Thumbs up for going for it as an adult skater!!!!!!! So many don't.
