Shouldn't you probably already know something about it from having watched it on TV? Hit hard, play whistle to whistle, hustle, and if there's anything you really need to know, your coach will tell you.

Sorry, I don't know a ton about football, but I'm sure you could type in "football" into any search engine and get plenty of explantions. You could try AskJeeves with "How to play football" or something. Also, see if you can practice with a friend or older brother, someone who has played/plays football. The best way to learn is to practice.

My son played (high school ball) for the first time last year and never even seen a football game! Believe it or not his friends helped him learn the plays and meaning by playing Madded and NCAA!

It depends on what position you want to play, or what you are willing to learn.
