I'd say 9 weeks, that's when I had my first dr's appt, and I heard it then. That's how they knew I was further along than they originally thought.

It starts beating at about 22 days, sometimes by the 9th or 10th week it can be heard, but generally there is no problem hearing it at 12-13 weeks.

You won't be able to hear the heartbeat without a stethoscope, but you will be able to feel the baby moving or kicking by about 4 - 5 months. It feels like a little bubble at first - then when you know what it is, it is so-o-o-o-o exciting.

You can see the babie's heartbeat at 8 weeks (via ultrasound). It'll vibrate on the screen. But you can actually hear it at 10-12 weeks.
