There are many things that affect the safety of on-line transactions.
How reputable is the company you are dealing with?
Is your computer safe. If there is a trojan, keylogger or other program that sends information from your computer to someone else, you are in jeapardy.
How safe is the computer system in use by the company you are dealing with? If they get hacked, your information will be compromised.
In general, as long as your computer is safe, and you deal only with reputable companies, you should be okay.

When You order something online, just have a check if it is secured. Mostly Verisign is considered one of the best. They Encrypt the transaction so that no one can spoof the information in between the transaction. Using sites like eBay or Amazon etc. will be safe enough.

I've done plenty of online transactions and all have been very satisfactory! As long as your browser displays the little lock sign which means the info is encrypted, you're kool.

We do a lot of shopping on the internet and have never had any problems. However, we shop with well established companies that have secured sites.
