if contractions are exactly 1 hr apart, is that the beginning of the real thing, or is it braxtion hicks?

I already asked my Midwife, she says not to bother coming in unless 5 minutes apart. Just wondering that time will be sooner than I expected!

It is most likely braxtion hick but, if your contractions become 8 minutes apart then you need to get to the hospital quickly. Good Luck and Congrats on your new arrival!

1 hr apart is probably braxton hicks. Try to relax. I had a friend who had contractions 1 hr apart for a week and then they went away and she went into labor a few weeks later. Call the doctor, however, if they are very painful or get closer together.

There is a big difference in the way a braxton hicks feels and a real contraction. If it is just the tightening sensation you feel, it's not labor. Real contractions are a bad cramp like you would get on your period. 34 weeks is to early anyway so if you think you are going into labor you need to call your doc so they can stop them.

Braxtion hicks contractions are usually erratic-not likely that they would occur at regular intervals. Coupled along with the fact that you are 1 cm dilated, it might be time to call your doctor.....

this waiting is the hard part...at 1 hour apart it sounds like the very beginning faze, the pre labor..that can last from hours to well a couple of days depending the second part the active faze contraction will become unbearable for the most part and ranging from 2-8 minutes apart. trust me you wont mistake the real thing.

possibly. if they stop or slow down when you rest, they are BH. If not, it could be the real thing. they will also get closer together and more intense as time goes on if they are the real deal. BH usually are just more of a tightening of your tummy, and not really painful- the real deal will get more intense and you may feel it more in your back.

I think probably by next week, you *may* go into active labor and have your baby. It is the beginning, but it will take some time.

the only person that is going to be able to answer this is the doctor. you are the one that knows your body the best, and you if you don't think that something is right, it is better that you have it checked out. good luck, and congratulations on your soon to be new bundle of joy.
