I have a good friend that i love?

This friend has been in my life for about 16 years.The problem is that we have became more than just friends for the past nine years secretly. we only told a few good friends that we dont see everyday. my friend wanted it that way because my family might judge or not understand. But i said they wont, they love me and we are two consenting adults. to make a long story short, we love each other and i made a mistake in telling my kids about it because i thought they should know. to my surprise, my friend did'nt like it and said we should have discused it first and stopped speaking to me since. it's been 5 months now and iv'e tried calling to apologize over and over but to a answering machine only. i expressed my love and said is this worth giving up 16 years of friendship for. we are both not married or are involved with anyone else. Can you give me some feedback on this situation, i'm so in love with this person?

ok so you r really in love with this person but you said somthing you regret so its kind of a wierd thing but to him its more friendship than love so give it some time and maybe things will turn out fine.

I guess that the mistake was that you didn't tell him, but they are your kids they should know who probably going to have for their father. What I would do is talk to my kids and and explain that you guys were friends for a very long time and you know him well and you love him. Your kids will understand and if they don't tell them to give you a good or a reason why you shouldn't be with him. And well you might have to go to his house and talk to him because he's not going to answer any calls. You can go by yourself or with your kids.
