As a Mac user myself I stand firmly in the Apple Camp, but as technology is now beginning to change on both sides (Vista and Leopard), I am wondering if PC users still believe that they are the superior breed. OS X Leopard will allow users to boot Windows directly on a Mac, meaning they can now run all their games and niche applications as much as they like. As for Price, Macs and PC’s are relatively in the same ball park, especially if you take into account on a Mac you get integrated Web Cam, Bluetooth and Wireless. Added to this that Macs now use Intel chips, meaning that they are often faster than there PC competitor (due to Apple being able to tweak the software around the hardware) and far more easier to upgrade. So why are so many people still planning on sticking to PC’s? Vista still wont be more innovative or as secure as Leopard, PC’s still wont be as user friendly and easier to use as Macs and PC’s still wont have access to integrated and award wining programs like iLife.

Mac commercials make you think that PC's are bulky, repetitive, and way behind. What's ironic is that Apple recently ditched IBM -- the decade-long manufacturer of their CPU technology. They balked at their original claim that IBM's CPU was superior, then switched to Intel and the "x86" platform. So much for being "unique" and "innovative". The move flat-out admitted that they're chasing the PC.

The truth away from the propaganda in their commercials is that there's nothing a Mac can do that a PC can't.

Though Macs are generally better out of the box, by no means are they more powerful. How can it be, especially now that it has the same CPU? The debate isn't about the hardware anymore, it's about the operating system and software that's available for it. You will find more offerings with the Windows platform, and most importantly, it will be easier to find help from a friend, relative, or online when you need it.

Plus, if hardware in a Mac breaks down, good luck repairing it yourself. Most of what's in a Mac is "proprietary" (that means non-standard). With a PC, you can replace parts yourself for cheap and for the most part is easier to do. That's a side of the story you don't hear often. Buying replacement parts from Apple can get quite expensive.

Macs do have one thing going for them -- the MAC operating system. When compared to Windows, it's arguably easier to learn and navigate, and can be just as powerful to customize. For someone with little or no PC experience, it can be the better decision if you want to get started in multimedia (audio & video) right away. Also, there are a lot less threats and vulnerabilities to worry about, since it's not a big target right now by script kiddies and hackers. That will change soon though, as Apple gains more of the market share over time. But for now, it's a pretty good alternative in that respect.

Nothing against Mac's overall - I just feel they're more of a pretty package with hidden maintenance costs.

The Mac has always ben technically superior, but Microsoft has always been better at marketting. MS has such a massive footprint in the market now, it will take quite some time to budge them, but consider this: (spoof press release).

You know that Microsoft have now released the official name for Longhorn, the operating system to follow Windows 2003: It is going to be called Microsoft VISTA.

Already the acronym has been cracked: It stands for "Viruses, Infections, Spyware, Trojans and Adware"
or if you prefer (which I do), "Virus Incubator Support & Testing Architecture"

People dont like change. I changed to the MAC about 2 years ago. I will never go back. I like the fact that there aren't many MAC users, that means less people trying to create viruses for it. Thats my 2 cents.
I love my MAC.

and you can't run either on a pc ...
and i have used mac many times the mac has less RAM and a weaker CPU and it works better with it
the macs dint have over 50,000 virus's that can screw with them unlike on a PC
i could go on and on and on

There is nothin in a Mac that a simple non-intelligent user can understand.

PC still rules because of its GUI
