Not only is it weird, it's rediculous! A dog doesn't care if it's his/her birthday and would be just as happy with a rawhide and a greenie. If your spending $10,000 on a party, your doing it for yourself, not him!!! Sounds more like someone saying "look how much money I have" rather than a show of love to your pet.

I Love my son more than life its self but I wouldn't spend $10,000 on HIS birthday! Thats just plain excessive and wasteful! Go for $100 if you must and give the rest to an animal shelter! They will put it to far better use!

Usually, the sort of people who do things like this are not wealthy businesspeople, because, if they were, then they'd know that that's not the best use of ones money. People don't get rich by spending $10K on frivolities.

So someone who did this is either 1-very spoiled (and maybe a little stupid), and they probably didn't earn their wealth, or 2-they can't really afford such things, but spending money makes them feel good, and they're probably addicted to shopping and have all of their credit cards maxed out.

But really: Who does such stuff? Paris Hilton? Is this an example of a real person, or someone whom you just made up off the top of your head?

I guess it depends on the person. If you love your pet and are middle class and spend $50 on your pets birthday with say a $40,000 a year income, few people would say that was weird...

So if you make $8,000,000 a year it would be the same...

Now would I spend that much, NO! But I don't fly first class or drink $500 bottles of wine either...

Not in the world we live in now. i mean we're entertained by shows like Big brother and re-elect George W. Bush. We think shows like punk'd are funny and get offended if anyone speaks they're mind about a person's race or religion. So spending that type of money on a pet seems like an after thought compared to what is going on.

If you have the means, I guess it would not be wierd for you. But just think of what other uses 10,000 dollars could be used for? Charity, college funds, and pets love their owners regardless. The whole act in itself only means something to the owner.

My pets are happiest when i scratch them behind the ear and take them for long walks or go swimming.

I could certainly think of a lot of better ways to spend 10k. Its madness with all the poverty in the world. The dog/pet would be happy with a bone. He wont know if its christmas, birthday or Sunday 19th June. Crackers.

Of course not!!!!!!!!!!!!
I believe if the person earned that money honestly working they should do whatever they wanted with it (if it isn't hurting anybody). If they are happy with that, it's no one else business. You could ask similar questions like is it weird somebody spend $10,000 in drinks, jewelry, holiday, a dress or just in a casino? Bottom line it's their money it's their business.
Besides every single person has a different conception of happiness.

Yes...even if that person is a billionaire there are much better things to spend that money on than a dog. A dog only needs food, some toys, and love to be happy, anything else is just to amuse the owners.

It would be better to donate that money to charity.

Only people who has that kind of money to throw away for absolutely nothing at all. I mean, my God, just give him a frozen doggie treat, wish him a happy birthday, put a freakin birthday cap on him and that is it! Why spend $10,000? Why? What is wrong with people?
