there is lots of diferences between the RS GSR and MR first u need to know between the 2 gens of them in the us . first theres the evo 8 and the evo 9 theres only very few changes from the 8 to the the 9 the changes they made were the front bumper was changed and u can get different rim options on the 9 than the 8 . and they also gave the new 9 about 10 more wheel hp BUT some of the later 8's have the same hp they change the size of the exhaust housing on the turbo from a 16g with a 8.5 hotside to a 16g 10.5 hotside. also the 9 mr's come with a 6 speed man transmission
now the differences between the models vary because the 8's to the 9's

the evo RS is the same from an 8-9. Its basicly a race ready car they have hardly any options such as no power windows, lock, mirrors . has no radio and u have to order a/c if u want it . heck they dont even have sound deadning material under the carpet. also they come with no wing at all

the 8-9 gsr is mostly the same car it has factory a/c power windows, lock, mirrors and u get the wing .u get a cd plaer and u can special order a 6 disk cd changer and hid headlights also the hid headlights adjust up or down from inside the car

now the mr in the 8s is basicly the same as the gsr except it came with a vortex genorator witch helped get more air flowing over the wing to get u more downforce they were not color coded on the 8's and it also came with a lighter rim option

thats just a small portion of how they came from the factory u can order basicly any option u want

they will mail u a full broshure on all models of evolutions

First of all, if you take a look at the Evo I, II and III you will notice that they have the same body and the same engine. Then take a look at Evo IV, V and VI. They are different from the previous three but the have the same body, the only difference is the mask of the front and rear bumper, the improvements that made in the engine etc. That means that the Evo IX is the final of the third "era" of Mitsubishi's fastest car and the Evo X will be totally different than the previous three.Remember that the Evo means evolution. Also, you notice that there are some different Evos like RS, MR. Well,GSR is the normal edition of the Evo. RS is the semi-racing edition and is very rare. Evo VIII MR and Evo VI Tommy Makinen Edition, are the same with the Evo VIII and Evo VI but a little bit improved and more rare than the other. I hope that I help you.

Well, funny how they brand Evos in the US. The RS, IX, and MR are all Evolution 9th generation.

But here are a brief description from Mitsubishi's site:
LANCER EVOLUTION RS
Just like every member of the Lancer Evolution family, we started with our famous 4G63 engine; it features the highest power-to-displacement ratio of any production inline four-cylinder engine available. But that wasn't enough for us. You also get all-wheel drive, the revolutionary Active Center Differential and some super-sticky Advan® tires for levels of cornering grip that can barely be believed. Add a set of Brembo® brakes that stop like you just dropped anchor, and you've got all the performance features that the Evolution's legendary rally heritage was built on.

LANCER EVOLUTION IX
From World Rally Championship podiums to the streets and highways of the world, the Lancer Evolution is the most dominant sport compact performance sedan ever produced. Automobile magazine even named it their 2004 Automobile of the Year. The rest of the automotive press swooned over its supercar performance, while video game manufacturers found space for it in every racing game imaginable. Why? The only way you'll know is to get behind the wheel. The Lancer Evolution IX comes with all of the features of the RS, but with the addition of a color-keyed rear spoiler with carbon-fiber airfoil, keyless entry, power windows/locks/mirrors, Mitsubishi Sports ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and more.

LANCER EVOLUTION MR
The ultimate Lancer Evolution, the MR is redefining sport compact performance expectations around the world. It comes standard with the kind of technology that pushes the absolute limits of street and track performance. Take everything available on the Lancer Evolution IX and add one-piece forged aluminum BBS® wheels to save a little more rotational weight. Add a close-ratio six-speed gearbox to keep you in the fattest part of the powerband. Let the revolutionary Vortex Generator funnel air to the rear wing and then give the wing a wickerbill extension to increase the level of downforce it generates. Throw on some inverted Bilstein® shocks to push lateral-acceleration (g-force) numbers to the absolute limits ever seen in a street car. Then add an aluminum roof to reduce center of gravity for even better cornering performance, and you've got an MR that can go head to head with just about anything in production. And win.
