the guys at my workplace always call me by something else -- like "mi amor" or "honey" -- they're married, any idea why they would do that? i kinda hate it. if you were a married man, would you call your co-worker names like that? if yes, why?

I don't know, maybe these guys are just so used to calling their wives those names that it's just natural to say it to other women. But let me tell you, if I caught my fiance talking like that to another women, there'd be some consequences! He is a very sensitive guy, and I don't think he would do that anyway. But if he did, I would feel a little less special.

well I'm not married(22) but I do not call my co-workers honey and sweety. Then again I'm the youngest person working here haha. It's just a way for them to flirt with someone younger and (much more)attractive than their wives. If you really don't like it just say please call me by my name. My mother-parents gave it to me for a reason. Something like that. GL peace

Not a chance. Although I call our office manager ragamuffin (her name is Raeanna) and she in turn calls me scary Gary. It means nothing.
I've been called "honey" and "sweetheart" by waitresses at greasy spoons and I think its kinda funny. But I also realize that it is completely innocent.
I treat my female co-workers with respect and am very conscious of sexually harassing them in any manner.
I f you are uncomfortable with your co-workers behavior then I would suggest that you let them know how you feel, but in a non-threatening manner.

I thinks that inappropriate even if they weren't married, your at your workplace the only name they should be calling you by is your first name, I would ask them politely to stop and just call you by your name.

Tell them in a nice way that if they don't stop you will turn them in for sexual harassment, cause thats wht it is. I am a married woman and i would never say stuff like that to my fellow males workers.

I am not a man but coming from the south they are just terms of endearment, nothing person. I call people baby and sweety all the time. It is just what we do.

But no , I would never call any females from work by other than their name unless we were just really good friends. But I would still have to be attracted to her to call her pet names. I wouldn't be able to call some extremely unattractive girl by those names.

they are just being nice to you. if you don't like it ask them to stop. i myself call everyone baby. it's just a form of affection.
