I want to see Uranus renamed because that planet is the butt of too many jokes and slurs and it just ain't fair and it just ain't right. Let's show the 7th planet from the sun that we care by choosing a new name for it.... What do you suggest?

Phew! Finally.

Yep, we have to do this.

I've long suspected that the only intelligent extra-terrestrial life is on that planet, but they won't visit us 'coz at some point they will have to raise their hands (?) and say: 'Greetings from Uranus / I come from Uranus'. And who wants to kick off Monday morning with that?

Anyway, my suggestions:

1. "SUNARU"

Sounds cool, sounds a little ethnic, sounds like a minor character on Star Trek, and please slap anyone who says: 'Hey, you got Uranus backwards!'

2. "NEPTUNE JR"

Hope this doesn't lead to a paternity suit.

3. "PLUTO"

Seriously.

Many astronomers believe Pluto should no longer be classified as a planet, but only part of the Kuiper Belt, a ring of debris at the edge of the solar system. Other objects nearly as large, and indeed larger than, Pluto have been found within the Belt. If this is the case, then either Pluto should be downgraded from its planet status, or all of these objects need to be classified as planets.

If Pluto gets downgraded to C234-A (or something equally memorable), I suggest we take over the vacant name.

If Pluto flukes it and hangs on to its Major Planet credit card privileges, then don't worry: 'Goofy' is still available.

4. "SATURN'S BEE-YATCH"

Let's get some popcorn, settle back and watch the interplanetary fireworks!

It should be named Telly!

That's my nickname & I personally think that a planet of that magnitude needs a name like mine... Magnificent and Majestic ... largest of the gas giants... ok, maybe we can just skip over that last bit.

And don't we all watch too much television (... telly... television... yup that's where the nickname originated..) so why not, eh? (yup Canadian too).

Besides, Telly has lots of opportunity for more jokes... we could link it up to the tellytubbies (I get that a lot too). Especially the purple one... :)

Telly rhymes with jelly, belly, kelly, Deli, Nelly, Selly... ok that last was just really silly... but you see the potential, right?

Telly is good for a pun or two: "I telly-u five times the name of that planet..." so you'd never forget it... lol

Good question!
