Could you love a person who is paralyzed from the neck down? That was a question my pastor presented in church when doing a sermon on love... So do you really think you could?

yes it is possible, love does not and should not depend on a physical condition. It may mean you have to care for the person more than you would for a non handicapped person. Love is about the person not looks or physical condition.

Yes. And there are also still ways to be intimate with that person even though they were paralyzed. A great deal of intimacy comes from within the mind.....and as long as you have both of those the love could be very satisfying.

I couldn't fall in love with the paralyzed person... But if a person I love became paralyzed I would probably find the ways to adapt and love them still.

Well that would be very hard, never being able to make love. But yes, if something were to happen to my husband to cause him to be paralyzed, I would stay right by him and love him unconditionally.

I think Christopher Reeves and his wife showed the world what deep and abiding love can overcome.

A pretty package might turn your head or catch your eye, but it is who a person is on the inside that you form a deep and lasting attachement to. It might mean that it would take more work...more patience...more understanding that a "normal" relationship....but I think it's entirely possible.

I would take a really heartless person to not love a person regardless of paralysis. What if it was a mother, father, sister, brother, husband, wife?

One who truly loves, loves beyond the physical, beyond the capabilities, flaws, and all else.

Absolutely. They are still the same person, just unable to do for themselves. I know that alot of people look at it on a sexual aspect, but there are other ways for that to happen. My mom just became bed ridden, and my dad takes care of her, and loves her just the same as the day they were married. Its very hard on him, but she's still the same person inside.
