When the Borg clearly state "Resistance is futile"? Being a Borg would be better anyway, it would be an improved quality of life, you would be an important part of a very powerful collective entity, and would no longer feel lonely.

I don't consider being turned into a can opener a better way of life.

Because we are human....Resistance is a way of life...

Besides, the borg don't have feelings. They are very powerful, but the only one who knows that is the borg queen...everyone else is a drone. Non thinking, non feeling, worker.

Also, resistance isn't futile, because starfleet kicks their collective arses everytime they come around...

No freedom. No variety. Bad skin complexion. :)

To respond to SuzeY below--it's not that the Federation can't come up with a cloak (they even *topped* cloaking technology in the TNG episode "The Pegasus" by combining it with phasing technology), it's because they've agreed not to use cloaks, via the Treaty of Algeron (about which little else is known, but presumably the Federation got something very good in the deal, because the right to cloak is a pretty big thing to give up). Besides, it's not very nice to stalk around space cloaked, and Starfleet considers itself "nice," at least on the surface (considering the fact that they did secretly develop stuff like the USS Pegasus).

Some people just don't take instruction well, do they? Here's a better Star Trek question for you: with all of the technology that the Federation of Planets has, how come Klingons and Romulans figured out how to cloak ships since the 22nd Century, and the Federation never managed that in 400 years?

I know-I'm a dork, too.
