My brother and his wife encourage her and even buy these types of shoes for her. She is into wedges and stilettoes, I couldn't believe how high they were last time I saw her. She wears them casually out to play! I do NOT agree with this. What should I do/say?

I so totally agree with you but seeing as how you are only her aunt, not her parent, I don't think there's really anything you can say especially since her parents are encouraging it. It's just something we have to except in our society today. It's all over TV, magazines, music videos. Kids see all this and I guess you can say learn from it as well. Little girls are growing up faster than we ever did. I think anything you say or do will offend her parents, especially as you say, they both encourage it. We just have to grin and bare it. Grrrr.

I think some of the clothing and shoes they sell for little girls mock grown ups clothing way too much now days. You see 10 year olds in clothes their 17 yr old sister would be wearing. Its not appropriate, but some people think its cute. You are not her parent but maybe you can make little comments ( without offending ) that she is growing up a bit too fast, or how she could hurt herself. You are her aunt and a part of her life so your opinion might sink in on them as long as they don't feel like their parenting is under attack.

I am a teacher and know how FAST girls can grow up. She is too young for heels. She may be interested in grown up stuff but we need to keep them young as long as possible. A student of mine has a 12 year old sister that just had a baby. It's crazy!

theres nothign wrong where a pair of heels. id be more concirend about tank tops and short skirts... oh and i smack my little girl if i ever saw her in a thong... (relax i dont even have a little girl) it all starts young just a good upbringing and education is what will keep her smart and making good decisions even if she looks fabulous doing it!

has any one else knoticed very young girls wearing half tops or little tanks fallign off... parents let them where this stuff liek its nothing... or walk around with no shirt just becuse they havent developed much yet.. well suprise suprise when little jany grows so boobies and still lets it all hang out

You should talk to her and see how she feels about all of it. Then talk to your brother and his wife about your feelings. Then try to make a deal to help keep her young and out of trouble, but still let her wear the shoes she likes.
