Why do people think that they don't have to come to work if their car breaks down or if someone is using their car or they have a car wreck (but werent' hurt)? I don't even have a car and I get to work everyday on the bus. Most of these people I know live in the city and could take a bus and yes it might be inconvienent to them, but if I can do it every day they could do it a few days.

People just dont care about there job. Its sad. I was a retail manager and had to deal w/ all different types of call offs. From girls w/ girl "problems" to broken down cars.

Sweetie, you apparently have what is called a work ethic.
It's a rare form of workaholism!
I think most people would not work at all, but they like to eat.
I think the excuses that you gave as examples are probably B.S. but everybody feels like they have to give a reason.
Would it be better if they said they were just going to skip work because they wanted to? I wouldn't read to much into the "reasons" why they can't get to work. They just want to not come to work.
