Their fair-weather fans didn't even bother showing up at the games until they made playoffs and I'm sure they'll disappear again when next season begins. Besides, the Buffalo Sabres were by far the better team and would have beaten them easily if not for all the injuries on defense. Don't you agree?

Thank you for your answer!:)

Yes, it is a total joke that the crybaby 'canes stole the Cup -- and a sick joke at that. Carolina was by far the least deserving Stanley Cup winner in recent memory. Their ignorant, nascar-loving, redneck "fans" are an even bigger joke than their team. I can guarantee you this team will get nowhere near the Stanley Cup finals again for many years, perhaps ever. They've neither the talent nor the support and have already lost several key players this offseason.

I agree with you 100%, Moon. The deserving Stanley Cup champions were my proud, young and talented Buffalo Sabres. If not for a decimated defense corps (they'd lost 4 of their top 5 defensemen to injury by the time they met hated carolina) and the loss of our top power play specialist and most creative playmaker (Tim Connolly), we would have annihilated that arrogant team of arrogant, luck-out con artists.

And mark my words, as soon as the upcoming 2006-07 season -- just months removed from winning the greatest trophy in all of sports -- the crybaby 'canes will be playing to a half-empty building whilst their so-called "fans" watch their precious college basketball and nascar. Pathetic!

The Cup comes home to Buffalo in 2007!

LET'S GO, BUF-FA-LO!!!

Hockey fans should be happy for the players on the Hurricanes! Even if you don't like Carolina you need to realize it's not the players fault that the fans didn't show up during the regular season. Carolina obviously isn't a big hockey town but the players still gave it their all and earned the Stanley Cup! The privilege of wining the Stanly cup shouldn't be taken away from them or down played just because they didn't have as many fans as the other teams! I'm just being honest and fair! I am by no means a Carolina fan but they deserve what they've earned! Also, this isn't an attempt to tell people they shouldn't be loyal to their hockey teams and think their team should have won the cup either, there is nothing wrong with being loyal to your team, i'm just trying to shine some light on the situation!

As for your question about Buffalo, it's definitely a possibility that if they were injury free they would have had a better chance at going to the finals but everything happens for a reason. They will just need to step it up next season and try to stay healthy!

I've never thought a team didn't deserve to win. In my mind that's not even possible. You get 16 wins, you win. You have bad luck along the way you either overcome it or you lose. Hockey is dreadfully simple at it's purest heart.

Do I like that the Canes won? Nope, but I do respect a lot of their players. Do I think Buffalo could have won? Well hell of course, but so could any of the teams. Buffalo had very bad luck at the worst possible time.

I've lived here a long time and I've seen fans be overwhelmingly kind to the opposing fans and teams. Are there butt****s out there? Sure! But Buffalo isn't know for that in the way the Flyers fans are....

I long for the day that Buffalo wins something so that every argument doesn't come down to that one sad fact.....

I love my Sabres!

It's a shame that a team in the south where the fans aren't as passionate won the Cup, but on the other hand, there might be alot of former Whalers fans that deep down liked seeing them win, so that's good for them. As far as Buffalo, that's my team too and they did have alot of injuries but I dont' know if I would say they were clearly the better team, Carolina has some great scorers and Cam Ward was just on a roll, almost like Ryan Miller but with more offense helping him out. But yes, it's kind of weird, would almost be like Nashville winning the Cup, or the Atlanta Thrashers.

A team is not their fans. The players deserved to win since they played hard for the Cup. So, no, I don't think it's a joke that the Carolina Hurricanes won the Stanley Cup. Buffalo had a bit of bad luck, and that's just the way it goes sometimes.

As for the bashing of the Carolina fans, do you expect that the people in North Carolina automatically know, understand, and love hockey? It's takes years and years for a fan base to develop. The championship will help with that, but it won't automatically make everyone in North Carolina a hockey fan.

Why put a team in a place where people already love hockey? Put a team in a place where no one knows hockey, let them learn the game, and spread the joy!

Mike your gay your Probably a Nascar loving red neck from Raliegh the worst place for a hockey team.

I do think it was a joke because obviously Buffalo was a better team and even with all those injuries took it to a close 7 games.

'06-'07 is Buffalos year though!!!!

How many more months will the world have to hear excuses for why the Sabres lost the ECF? The Buffalo fans are among the most bitter and unsportsmanlike group of fans I have ever experienced...even worse than Philadelphia, and that is saying something. Do not proclaim the Sabres the best team in the league until you have actually won something. Buffalo could not even win their division last year. And do not say that Ottawa was in their way because the Sens suffered a rash of injuries too and if the Sabres were that good, Buffalo should have overtaken them for first. I know Buffalo beat the Sens in the playoffs, but not winning first place in the regular season cost you home ice for the ECF and may have ultimately cost you the series. Ottawa has suffered keys losses during the offseason (Chara, Hasek) and the division is Buffalo's for the taking in 06-07. Until this Sabre team actually wins something, they will be nothing more than a paper champion.

Yes.

Buffalo is the most unlucky team in hockey history. Not only did they have those injuries, but they got screwed by a dumb rule when Brian Campbell accidentally shot the puck over the glass. That should not be a penalty, it should have the same conditions attached to it the icing does.

It's cool though. Sabre fans are used to heartbreak. We should have had a cup in 99' too.

What I think is a joke, is the bad sportsmanship that some of you people are showing. Your little teams got their fannies beat by the Hurricanes. Plain and simple. Oh yeah, unless you have lived in the south and more importantly, lived in the great state of North Carolina (which I do), do even presume to know or think you understand how we feel about hockey. And unless you have been to a Carolina Hurricanes game during the regular season (which I have) don't even think you know how many fans show up for those games. The number would surprise you. There are ALOT of die hard hockey fans in the state of North Carolina, many were hockey fans before the Hurricanes came to Raleigh.

I picked Buffalo to win and yes, they had too many injuries that's why they lost. CANADIAN PLAYERS won the cup for the Canes.
