Zidane headbutted a man that could defend himself. If Materazzi wanted to, there could have been a huge fight on that pitch.

the horse on the other hand?

If that horse had reared up and stomped the life out of that jockey....they'd put it down

It was a nervous horse and the jackass jokey head butted its nose. Animal abuse should not be tolerated. I say Zidane is the better person here. At least Matarazzi knew what was going on.

Zizou's headbutt was regrettable. Fortunately, however it was not serious enough to injure Matterazzi or keep him out of the game.I know horses well. Nothing more stupid or dangerous than threatening an anxious or nervous animal. He is very lucky the animal did not panic and rear or then he may have been in real trouble...The muzzle area is very sensitive and to smack it one with a helmet was childish, so I would definitely say this incident was worse.

Zidane's headbutt was worse. At least Jockey was a horse! Materazzi is a person, and it probably hurt more on him!

The jockey.
Materazzi deserved what he got.
That jackazz had no reason to headbutt a nervous horse.
