Since you didn't have any Backups the only thing you can do is take it to a data recovery service. And the price Seagate gave you is about right.
You can take it to a local repair shop and see if they can help but a lot of times they can't.
I know you don't want to hear this now but I have spent 30+ Years telling people to BACKUP there important data I have seen people spend thousands of dollars trying to get back years of photos, or other VERY Important files when for a hundred they could just buy a new hard drive and reinstall their BACKED UP data.
I really am sorry, I have seen people start crying when I tell them there's nothing I can do but send it to a data recovery company.

Purchase the same hard drive, such as one newegg.com. Take off the screws on the new one to remove the motherboard on the HD and do the same on the old one. Install the new HD motherboard on the old one and screw it in again. See if that helps. If that doesn't work reinstall the old motherboard again and then put it in the fridge overnight. After about 7 hours in the fridge put it back in your pc and do a quick backup before it fails again. This will work only for a few minutes. Its still better then paying the $2100

This is going to be expensive how ever you do it. I suppose you could try finding a good board and replacing it but that in itself is quite a chore. Usually you must have clean room facility in order to dependably recover data from a sealed unit drive.

Look for companies like Vantage who will remove your platters, read them, and pack 'em up in a little drive for you. Either that, or learn how to either switch your platters into a different drive or replace the drive chip. Either one of them probably won't be worth your time.

Googling is good for you.

Get another harddrive and set your broken one up as a slave drive, you might be able to access it as a spare drive.

Try freezing your hard drive.
Put it in your freezer for 24 hrs.
That should give your hard drive like 30 minutes of running time.
