We go through it because we are the end of having babies. Just like we had a beginning of puberty we will have an end.

Peri-menopause starts in our 30's - 40's and final menopause is when we have no period for one year. Most women go into menopause at age 50-52. Some sail right through it some have many problems.

Good luck!

PS we also start losing bone at age 30 so start taking calcium because by the time menopause occurs it may be too late and you will have osteoporosis.

Menopause happens because women only product a limited number of eggs in their lifetime. When a woman run out of eggs, this is when the Menopause happens.

Most commonly Menopause happens between the ages of 45 and 55, the average age being 51. However, it does not happen overnight and there is a gradual buildup to it, over a 5-10 year period known as the peri-menopause. HTH.

Peri menopause starts in the late 30's to late 40's everyone is different. Peri menopause last from 1 month to 2 years. This is when we start to produce less estrogen and symptoms begin, irregular periods ( either heavier and longer or shorter and spotty also can have more than one period each month) hot flashes, night sweats, depression, anxiety, mood swings. Once you have stopped your period for 1 year you are then considered to be in menopause. Once your in menopause symptoms of Peri menopause subside. If symptoms of Peri menopause become severe there are hormone replacement therapies , or herbal remedies that can help. Peri Menopause can start as early as 30 in some women although it is not common.

Menopause normally starts in the mid-fifties. However it can start earlier or later because everyone is a bit different. Why you go thru it is because you are older and unlikely to carry a pregnancy to term. It's just nature's way of dealing with age and providing the optimum for creation. Besides, would you want to be pregnant in your 60's or 70's?

We go through it because our eggs are getting too old and nature doesn't want us having babies any more.

I was about 49. All I experienced is that my periods stopped, I had a few hot flashes (you're sitting around minding your own business when suddenly it feels like someone turned the thermostat up to 120!), and a few night sweats. The whole thing took maybe 6 months and I hardly noticed it. That's it! No particular mood swings, none of the insanity I've heard so much about, no hormones.

I have gotten old faster since then, though. I mean things like dry skin and wrinkles, gaining weight more easily and so on. It does mark a significant change in the body, but it's a change toward maturity and freedom, in my opinion.
