When I say act like men, I mean to expect the same social freedoms such as cursing, smoking, a career, playing sports etc. with out being judged as being unlady like or wanting to act like men.

It is only wrong if you beleive it is wrong. Don't get me wrong here, I know what you are getting at. It is just like anything else. If we are taught things a certain way, if we veiw things a certain way, if a culture or society is a certain way then that is that and thats the way it is. Excepy of course for the few rebellious sorts that are then taged just that. Even if how we act is wrong, it is still socially acceptable if this is the way we were brought up learning generation after generation.. Example: War. This in my view is the most reprehensiable thing any human can do.. Go to war and murder eachother and in most cases in the name of their Gods.. Why do we fence our yards. Why is an elevator full of people always quiet, why do we all vacation at the beach.. Ya get what I am saying here. I don't care if you wear underwear on your head, curse lik a sailor, smoke dope, cigaretts and chew tobacco. I would still se you as a human first, just another person.. Sadly society in general is not ready for this.. That is why I am begining to beleive in reincarnation.. We keep coming back until we finally all see things for what they really are. If this is the case than I think I may be on my last voyage. I just hope I don't have to dtick around until everyone else catches up..

it is unfortunate that this is the case. The truth is that society is the one to blame. Since the dawn of time women have been saying that they want to be treated equally and unfortunately there are some women that give women like us a bad name. I think that nowadays women have been viewed at with more of an equal eye than several years ago but we still have a long way to go. I think that as more women give themselves a place and stand firm, more people will view us as being equal and won't judge us for cursing or burping or playing sports or smoking etc...... I know that men and women are not exactly alike because we have different biological structures but we should be treated equally and that goes for things that are double standards for men too like getting freebies for being a woman or like being treated differently in different situations because you are a woman.

Women shouldn't "act like men"!!!! As far as being able to have the same opportunities as men yes most definitely. Haven't you ever heard "the best man for the job is a woman"??? Women can maintain their femininity and still curse, smoke, play sports or whatever. A person should not be judged on their sex alone, unfortunately you still have some people who cling to OLD thoughts.

I think a woman should have her own career or play sports if she wants. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. I actually encourage it and if you want you should pursue a career or sport of your choice. When it comes to cursing or smoking I do not think anybody should be doing that regardless if one is a male or female. I agree there is a stigma attached because women are supposed to act as ladies while men can get away with rowdy behavior.

Women have so long been enslaved, only recently have women recieved the same rights. Looking through history, women kept the house, while men fought and brought home dinner. The media still works on those premises. However, in today's changing society, women should be able to enjoy the same freedoms and social freedoms, and if people can't accept that, well, too bad for them. Ignore what people think of you, and be happy with yourself. Housewife or businesswoman, smoker or non-smoker, athlete or not. Be who you want to be.

And you know what? The same should apply for men. Who said men can't cry? They should be able to have the possibility of being a stay-at-home dad. They should be allowed to be who they want to be too.

Of course, there are some limitations, biological ones we can't fix but may be subject to change in the future.

Be who you want to be, not what history and media want you to be. :)

Because old habits (and views) die hard, and for a VERY long time women were supposed to be "ladies" (prim and proper). Right or wrong that was expected and how (for the most part) females behaved...now that things have changed a bit, and we're doing more and demanding equal rights it HAS become more acceptable but it will take some time to change the views of those who are set in the "old ways" (men and women).

Well in a sense, women are the daintier species. I think social standards for American woman have defiantly changed. Now woman are the full time workers and are out supporting themselves in a man's egotistical world. Back in the 1940's you didn't see women out there busting their asses and trying to live up to society's standards. No, they were cooped up at home cooking and cleaning. So if I want to light up a cigarette and down a whole beer then I should be able to. Times are changing and everyone needs get with the program.

It's not wrong. It's still something a lot of us live with though because of how women were treated in the past. Some men still don't agree we should have the same freedoms of them b/c it's makes them feel less superior. Sad really. But we have the ****** right, so don't the shet they say make you do otherwise.

LMAO alot of people read ur question wrong. I think woman's liberation is going well considering how bad it was in the early 1900's. I think we have alot more jobs and alot more freedom atleast here in the U.S.A. and we can tell a man no and what we want to do without getting slapped around like a dog.

I think you can do most of those things and still be feminine--but when women start acting so much like men that they start to even look like men, that's not a good thing. Women and men need to be different, and appreciate those differences in each other, otherwise, what's the point of having two genders?
