Senna and lots of fiber. Senna is an herbal remedy for constipation. There are some products at GNC that have both together in either a pill or liquid form. Also drink lots of water. Constipation is usually a sign that your body needs more water. Good Luck!

It depends on what is causing it.
There can be various reasons for constipation and different causes call for different cures. For in-depth information & conditions/causes, the following is a great link...
http://www.niddk.nih.gov/health/digest/pubs/const/const.htm
The most common cause is dehydration and lack of fiber in the diet. In that case, watermelon, cucumber, stewed prunes and drinking plenty of water should take care of it in a day or so. Additional fiber in the form of citrus fruits, grains and beans or peas will also help.
As long as you do not have a heart condition, a warm water enema will help. This is for the case where you have already waited until there is a high level of discomfort and you need more immediate relief. If you have a heart condition, I have heard an enema can be inadvisable. Since I don't have solid info on this I say, better safe than sorry.
If this does not help enough, you may need to use a mineral oil enema. This will help soften and slick larger, dryer problems. You will need to hold both, water and mineral oil, for as long as you comfortably can. Lying on your left side and lowering you head below hip level will help the liquid to flow deeper into the intestine and give better relief. Take your time and don't force it... allow the liquid to gently flow. Too much pressure can cause damage and excessive pain could indicate a blockage, which would need a doctor's attention for safety.
Constipation with bouts of runny stool, particularly with abdominal mass, rigidity or persistant pain could indicate an obstruction or even a tumor. Best to see a doctor if this sort of thing is going on.

First of all, see your doctor to rule out any serious problems. If your doctor gives you the okay, I suggest a Castor oil pack. Get a bottle of castor oil from a health food store(cold pressed is best). Soak an old rag that is big enough to cover your abdomen in the oil...to the point of total saturation without dripping. Lie down and apply the castor oil soaked rag to your abdomen. Cover your abdomen, and the castor oil rag with a piece of plastic...like a grocery bag or small garbage bag. Then apply a heating pad (or hot water bottle, etc) over the piece of plastic. Relax while the heat and the castor oil do the trick. An hour or so per day will keep your bowels moving nicely. In the "old days" castor oil was taken internally to promote emptying of the bowels. This is a very drastic measure which may cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhea and I don't recommend it. When you are finished with your castor oil pack, place the oil-soaked rag in a plastic zipper bag and put it into the freezer until you use it again. Be sure to label it so that anyone who sees it will know what it is. I hope this helps! God Bless.

It depends on the type of constipation...wet or dry. If it is dry, try a combination of cascara sagrada, slippery elm and ginger. If it is wet (soft pencil thin and not much comes out) then try cascara sagrada and fennel. Also avoid food/drinks that act as diuretics such as iced tea, beer, asparagus, etc.
