my friend worked at sonic....it matters where you live. Around where I do, they stopped because a couple people got hurt. So now they don't make you anymore.

Yeah, I worked there. They don't make you skate. I know 2 of my former co-workers did though. But nobody else skated. I know that I probably couldn't have skated without dropping the food or drinks. I can skate well but I just don't believe I could've have done it. I've heard that you get paid more if you skate, but I don't know how much. Obviously you can't skate on the days where there is rain on the forecast. Do you think the Sonic in your town is busy? Mine was kinda busy during lunch hour. And a little during happy hour. But if you take the orders on the switchboard, sometimes it gets frustating because some people might say when the food comes out that the person that took the order got it wrong. And if you took the order, then you're like thinking they didn't tell me they wanted that, for some customers though. If your Sonic has a drive-thru, I found drive-thru a little challenging at times because the cars just keep coming start around 2:00 p.m. And some people wanted their order on separate tickets when there's a sign on the speakerbox saying One order per vehicle. And when they say they want separate tickets you're like thinking "can't you read the sign out there?" but you just tell them they can't do that. In my town, we can't accept checks, yet there are some people that write out a check when you carhop to their car and you have to tell them you can't accept it. It's written on the menuboard. Some customers are just dumb though. One person wanted to see the manager because they said I took their order wrong when I put down everything they told me they wanted and I even asked them if they wanted anything else. But when I took the order out to them, they said it wasn't right and kept calling back in. I was mad at them. I think it was some spanish people. But if you work there, you have to be prepared to be patient with customers if they get on your nerves and be as kind as possible. And when you're taking orders, it's really never good to assume. So if they want a combo meal, ask if they want fries or tots. Because some customers don't tell you specifically what they want and kind of leave it all up to you to get it right. I've asked some people if they want fries or tots, and they just said "Yeah", and I'm thinking "Well, which one?" And if they want tea, be sure to ask sweet or unsweet 'cause some customers might not tell you. And with certain foods, you might wanna yell out the food to the cooks. 'Cause that's what we were supposed to do. Yell it out so they're know that it's coming down on the screen. 'Cause sometimes they get busy in the cooking area, they don't look at the screen at times. If you're working fountain, then it'll be helpful to fix more than 1 drink at a time. That way saves times and you get done quicker. Also on the switchboard or when you're taking orders be sure they say fries instead of spirte or sprite instead of fries. Because that's easy sometimes to misunderstand. Also with vanilla coke and vanilla cone. Sometimes it's easy to misunderstand the customer. I've done that sometimes and so have others. One thing that annoys me about working there is sometimes a customer will have their dog with them. And I don't like dogs. The big dogs scare me. And I hate it when I had to take out food to someone that had a dog. I just don't understand why some people have to bring their pets along with them. Another thing that annoyed me was cell phones. You take an order out and they're on the cell phone. I didn't like it because I always thought it was disrespectful. But it annoyed me even more if I answered a box, and I couldn't understand them because they were chatting on their cell. Someone had to go out to their car and get what they wanted. That's even more disrespectful. They shouldn't have rang in if they were on the cell. I wish I would have said "Well just ring back in when you're ready." Because they wasted my time. And even if they're speaking to you and they are on their cell, it makes it twice as hard to take the order. Because they don't usually pay attention when you read it back to them and sometimes you don't know if they are talking to you or to the person on their cell. So you're just hoping you got their order right. If you have to deal with any of this, then just be patient. Sorry I wrote my answer so long. You're probably reading this thinking "Gosh, she has a lot to say. When will she ever be done?" I'm done now.
