And didn't get a wedding shower or anything (no honeymoon either). So my mother wants to make that up for me by giving us a huge baby shower. Any suggestions on theme, decorations etc. and where we can find an extravagent cake? lol

I forgot to mention that the shower will be held at my parents house (it's pretty big) and that men will be invited so if you have any ideas for a nice co-ed shower, I'd really appreciate it! And thanks to everyone who's responded so far, all ideas have been great!

we had a similar situation....
my mom rented out a banquet room at a local club and bought many decorations from a regular party store.
of course, theme would be BABY!
she had a few games, but not a ton b/c we invited men and women. the guys aren't usually too keen on games.
also, be sure you are specific on the invites that it's for men and women!!! a lot of guys didn't show b/c it was a baby shower (i.e. woman party).

one fun game was where you get blue or pink clothes pins and atach them to a blue or pink piece of ribbon, like a necklace. everyone gets a necklace to start with. then, as people are talking and mingling, if someone says the word "baby" they have to give their necklace(s) to the other person. then, at a certain time during the shower have everyone count their necklaces and the one with the most gets a prize.

another good idea....
buy a few gift cards, like $50 to red lobster....
then, anyone who brings a pack of diapers get a raffle ticket. then, later, draw the tickets and the winners get gift cards! many people will bring a pack of diapers AND a gift.

another good idea, which if it's a big shower, then maybe not, but have a basket passed around so people can address their own thank you note! trust me, it will help when you are writing them out, plus you won't get any addresses wrong!

as for the cake, well that will have to be a local thing. i can't help you with that one!

have fun and enjoy yourself!

You can go to your local bakery and order a wedding cake and have baby things put on it. I have been to baby showers where they have little pegs with dresses on them and painted faces to look like babies and put a magnet on the back to hand out as favors.

A nice touch to as people leave give them a thank you note already and have it written as though the baby was thanking them. I dont mean with scribble handwriting. But like " I would like to thank you for coming to my party and sharing the day with my mom she is so excited that she cant wait until I am born to share me with all of you" I wrote a thank you note like that for my friends shower and tied them with ribbon and small baby booties.
