I was diagnosised 4 yrs. ago and have been on the pill which made me a complete emotional wreck so I don't take them anymore. My cycle usually happens about every 30 - 50 days. We stopped using protection 7 months ago and I haven't gotten pregnant. I already know I don't ovulate like I should, and I have been through all the tests and I hate them. We aren't planning for kids right now but we would be delighted at the surprise. My OB-GYN wants to start fetility drugs to help me ovulate but sex without condoms it great! I guess I am asking for your opinion or what would you do?

I also have pcos and I know what your going through. It really depends on what you want to do. If your ready to start a family then talk to your Dr about the next steps you need to take. Its important to have your AF every month but, when you pcos you don't get it so you need to take progesterone so you can have a period at lest every 3 mths. When taking it you don't ovulate your just shedding your lining of your uterus wall. So if that's the step you want to take then just do that.

Good luck in your decision.

I was diagnosed 2 years ago. I have been trying to concieve for 5 years. I don't want to get your hopes down on that though. I finally went and saw a specialist and he told me that number 1- I need to take my pills to be able to ovulate, it was either suffer the horrible periods and absent periods, or put up with the pills. Number 2- I would have to take fertility pills to be able to ovulate normally. It's up to you whether or not you want to put up with the fertility drugs, they will do the same as the birth controll pills. I hope this helps.

I have a friend who has PCOS, it took a long time for her and her husband to become parents, many years. She is not a very close friend so I can't ask her more, but I know they had help from fertility drugs before she could get pregnant, and the pregnancy was not smooth, she had to have more checkups and be careful.
I'd say you should not wait too long before you start with the fertility drugs. But your doctor should be the best person to advise you.
I wish you good luck!
