I take the same pick as the asker.
Formula 1 is by far the most advanced form of racing on earth. And if Americans don't want to realize that, fine. Let them get dizzy watching 60's stock cars spinning round and round and round on oval tracks 200 times a race and 30 times a season.
They don't want to realize that because very few of them have opened their eyes towards what is the real pinnacle of motorsport. This may be due to the lack of American drivers. The last one before this season started was Michael Andretti and he didn't fare very well.
There is an American pilot on the grid in F1. He may be on one of the smaller teams, running for Toro Rosso (formerly Minardi, the well-known back-of-the-pack driver breeding house), but he may have a future in front of him. That is if he can get a drive for a competitive team next season.
(I know I am talking like this about an American driver, but I am not American).
My pick can be due to the fact that I am European and oval racing has long been abandoned here in favor of road racing.
Plus I have a driver in F1 that I can support, although he is from the other end of Europe.
Go Fernando Alonso and Renault!!! The REAL #1!!!!

Amen- someone else who enjoys F1! NASCAR isn't bad, but the rules and mandates are ridiculous. Cars are ideally identical. Unfortuantely F1 is becoming that more and more, which is why my favorite are the le mans series, like the American Le Mans Series- those are what racing was originally- a contest between manufacturers to see who can produce a better car. Unfortunately, that tends to be the company that can fork out the most money. I also like the IRL because of the open wheel cars, and the american feel of things... I am a 3rd generation indy 500 goer and love it every year.

It's kinda like asking which is better, and orange or an apple? I personally despise nascar, but I can see why other people like it. If you're into the physical nature of a race, i.e., bumping and hitting each other, nascar is terrific. But F1 is all about the speed. They're the fastest race cars in the world, and the most technologically advanced. However, they're like butterflies; if you touch one, it's all over.
So, my answer has to be F1. Schumi and Ferrari all the way!

Well for me NASCAR is my favorite although I enjoy watching all types of racing.I like NASCAR because all of the races in their top three series are televised (Trucks,Busch and Cup ) also the cars are bigger, more color full and most important to me It's easy to recognize individual cars and drivers the numbers are large and easily distinguished from each other. With Indy and F1 the cars all look alike to me I cant tell one car from another (could be my old eyes) also F1 races are not always available to be seen on T.V.Like I said at the beginning I love all forms of automobile racing from dirt to NASCAR and everything in between,NASCAR just happens to be my favorite.

F1 is better. They have better cars and the speed tracks are different. Also, Nascar is popular only in USA and F1 is popular at world wide level. Is like elvis and the beatles, Elvis rules in USA but the beatles rule the world. You just need to go out to realize that.

I agree with everyone above and what they said! I say Nascar, but some prefer F1! I just have never given F1 a real shot, I have seen portions of one or two races, it just wasn't my thing! But, heck anything involving cars and speed has got to be interesting!

everyone has a favorite,,can not all be the same,,now can we,, I like all kinds of motor racing,,,but my favorite is NASCAR,,simply because they look like cars, not a souped up go-kart,,,,,,,,and I believe there are more NASCAR fans in the stands at any race compared to F-1 or even IRL combined!,,,,Nascar was noted as having "good ole boy's" racing,,,poor mans racing in the beginning compared to the "rich" mans racing of F-1 or Indy cars, but thats just MY opinion,,plus look how many cars race in either F-1 or Indy,,,19-20 cars in a race compared to 43 in NASCAR,,,and talk about follow the leader,,,unless you qualify out front in F-1,,,its follow the leader,,,,but everyone is different,, everyone is intitled to their opinion,,,,I don't dislike someone for liking F-1 or Indy,,,and I would expect the same consideration for me being a NASCAR fan first

Its like asking whether American racing is better or the rest of the world racing is better.
If you say American racing, then it would be nothing but out of patriotism. If you say F1, then it would be out of the expertise in the automobile industry.
Nascar is stock car racing, F1 is the race of technology. You can decide the answer yourself!!

I don't think one is BETTER than the other, I think it's just a matter of opinion. I like NASCAR because there's more side by side racing & closer finishes. I just find NASCAR more interesting & exciting than f1.
