I heard that some people can make home made makeup?
My mom gets all hysterical over that fake crap, and they make my face break out. If it's possible, i'd rather make my own makeup at home because the all natural ones can be pretty expensive. Can i get some help?
Thanks.

Although I don't have an answer to your question (how to make homemade makeup) I may have a solution...

I recently became aware of all the chemicals that are being put into all the common "big name" makeup brands...and quite honestly, I find it appaling. The Government (FDA) does not regulate what companies put into their personal care and cosmetics. I did a lot of research on all this recently and I've decided to switch to natural, chemical-free personal care products because believe it or not, a lot of those chemicals are known to cause not only breakouts and acne, but cancer, reproductive problems and many other heath concerns/problems.

If I were you, I'd consider using mineral makeup. Be careful though...a lot of mineral makeup companies use Bismuth Oxychloride in their products, which make a lot of people itch. Bismuth Oxychloride is NOT natural and is the by-product of lead and copper refining. It is very heavy and chemically resembles arsenic and antimony. Companies use this in their cosmetics because it is cheap to buy and is an inexpensive filler. One major Company of Mineral Makeup who has Bismuth Oxychloride in their makeup is Bare Escentuals/Bare Minerals (FYI).

There is a very good mineral makeup company that uses 100% pure, crushed minerals (and NO Bismuth Oxychloride in their products) who several people have referred to me. They have a very informative website and reasonable prices. I plan to purchase from them in the very near future. The company is Afterglow Cosmetics and their website is : http://www.afterglowcosmetics.com/. Also be sure to check out the "TRUTH" button on the website...there is an article titled "The Ugle Truth About Commercial Cosmetics" which talks about all the dangerous chemicals being put into most brands of makeup. It's an interesting read, in my opinion.

I should also let you know that I suffer from breakouts as well (especially from chemically-laden makeup) so I do understand. It would make sense that many people break out from using any of the well-known, common makeup that's out there, as it is all so UN-NATURAL and full of harsh, harmful chemicals.

The following website called Skin Deep provides safety ratings and brand-by-brand comparisons of makeup, skin, hair, dental/oral, nail and eye care, as well as perfume and colognes, that can help consumers choose safer products. You'll probably be shocked at what is in your every day personal care products - I know I was! *BE SURE TO CHECK OUT "WHY THIS MATTERS", "FACT SHEET" AND "WHAT YOU CAN DO" near the upper right hand corner of this website.

The companies listed in the link below have pledged to not use chemicals that are known or strongly suspected of causing cancer, mutation or birth defects in their products and to implement substitution plans that replace hazardous materials with safer alternatives in every market they serve. Several major cosmetics companies, including OPI, Avon, Estee Lauder, L'Oreal, Revlon, Proctor & Gamble and Unilever have thus far refused to sign the Compact for Safe Cosmetics.

I would beware of homemade makeup if you have a tendency to break out. Using any food substance on your face (i.e. cornstarch) tends to feed the bacteria that cause breakouts and make it worse. I suggest you do some research on the "fake crap," there are actually several very good makeups on the market that won't make you break out, Neutrogena is one. Just because something is natural doesn't mean it's better for you.

It would end up being more trouble and probably end up costing you more money if you try to make your own makeup hon. Visit a local Health Food Market or places such as Origins this will probably be the least costly route, unless your mom wants to order from online.

1.) Oatmeal facemask - take some oatmeal flakes, wet them in your hand and cover your face, leave for around 15 - 20 minutes then rinse with warm water. 2.) Egg - separate the yolk from the whites and put them in 2 separate bowls. First whisk the yolk to a froth then apply this all over your face. After around 15 - 20 mins rinse with warm water. This helps draw dirt out and helps oily skin. Then whisk the whites to a froth and apply this the same all over your face. Leave for 15 - 20 mins then rinse. This helps reduce the size of your pores. 3.) Unscented kitty litter - sounds weird i know, but most cat litter is made from volcanic clay. Make sure your cat litter is unscented and put 2 tablespoons in a bowl. Keep adding water until it is absorbed and there is still a little water. Add aloe vera if you want and mix. Warm in the microwave for 20 secs. You then want to spread the watery part (try the avoid the lumps) around your face, avoiding the eye area. Leave for 15 - 20 mins then rinse. I've used all these myself and they do work. After I have rinsed all face masks off I splash my face with cold water to tighten pores. Hope this helps :)
