It's true! The idea is that you'll spend more time thinking about it and spending money on it. Personally, I think we'd spend more if they used their imagination and used the shelf space for something interesting.
I was in Rotterdam at the end of July one year in a scorching heatwave and went into a big store to buy some summer clothes, and they'd filled the entire clothing department with fleecy-lined stuff for the winter. Needless to say, no one was spending anything.

Our local paper carried a full page spread today entitled "Festive Fayre". This contained adverts from various pubs and restaurants and encouraged people to book early for Christmas - I was gobsmacked. Absolutely mega-mental in my opinion - just call me Mrs Scrooge - I don't care - I haven't even had my summer holiday yet!!

You're normal. The marketing people want you to start thinking about Christmas already so that you'll spend more. Personally, I find that it spoils what is supposed to be a special seasonal festival and turns it into a boring nuisance.

WHAT!? That's absurd and should be illegal. I bet there's some sad soul out there who actually sits there waiting for the Christmas things to come out i the shop. Terrible.

Today a customer told me she was preparing to start her Christmas shopping, and her husband was singing Christmas carols.

Your joking right?
If your not it's ridiculous. We're only in August. I think shops are just cashing in on us. The earlier they start putting stuff on the shelves the sooner we start buying, so we end up spending more

Yeah an all the kids will be hassling mum an dad, and everyone will start to feel the pressure, spend, spend, spend.
I'd rather go to a tropical island at xmas and relax with the kids, not a care in the world.........................(i wish).

I used to enjoy Christmas but it's just become yet another over-commercialised event.
