why do pontiac's have a lot of problems whereas buick has almost none...i don't really understand. they're both GM, and they're both pretty much the same cars...why do Pontiac's tend to have more trouble?

i say that they have more problems just because it seems that way...i always see all these questions about them breaking...maybe i'm wrong?

Because the people who own the ones with the most problems don't maintain them very well. The people who maintain their Pontiacs have very few problems...

Yeah, I agree with the person about 16 year olds. You have to think about who drives Pontiacs, and who drives Buicks. How many people under the age of 35 do you see driving Buicks? ya know?

I think it's mostly because of all the kids who's daddies give them a car when they're 16, a ton of them are grand ams and grand prixs, and the kids have no idea how to maintain them, and they drive them like maniacs. This doesn't excuse the quallity problems that some of them had, such as body molding and certain interior issues, but even so, If it comes with a 3.8 and an automatic, it should be just as reliable as a buick with the same engine.

Statistically speaking, since Buicks tend to have more content, they have more things to go wrong.
Also, Pontiacs tend to attract a bit of a different owner than a Buick who might not tend to maintenance as well.
All in all, I'd say your observation is probably based on limited information.

all vehicles have problems thats why we have auto repair shops on every street corner. But asfar as more pontiac`s braking down more I think all makes have about the same # of problems
