Bringing snacks on the plane is a good idea. Food in Disney is expensive (around $7 for hambuger/fries, $4 drink), but it is difficult pack a picnic lunch. Your best bet is to bring a small packpack, put a couple bottles of water in it...it is HOT so you need to drink plenty, there is water fountains that you can refill at...and also pack a washcloth (you can wet it to cool off) and a few snacks that won't melt, i.e. carrots, crackers, etc. just to tie you over. You have to keep in mind a 6 year old is going to want to have stuff from the park because it is Disney logo, but this way you can limit what you have to buy. During the summer, Disney is open late (10ish) so you may want to go early in the morning and leave around 2 during the heat of the day. Go back to your hotel, nap & have dinner before going back around 6. This will also help avoid lots of expensive food...Most of all remember to enjoy the trip!

It's a lot cheaper to bring snacks. Anything your child likes. Cookies, lunchables, etc. They have small ice cream stands, for soft drinks and such all over the park, but the food itself is really expensive. I usually bring bottled water too. I think it's like $2.00 or so a bottle there.
