turn of "system restore" from the control panel. update your virus scanner. disable your network connection.
restart in safe mode. scan the pc .. and best of luck!
ohh .. it is better not to have more than one antivirus in your system. try mcafee. i found it better and more effective than norton. whatever you are using, do not forget to make sure you have the most recent updates.

do not uninstall NORTON now . THE only way you can delete it is with the help of norton. First get connected to the internet, then scan your computer with norton. Now when it finds the virus , it will display the name of the infected place and name of the virus;which will be underlined as a link. click the link and now norton will acess the internet and take you to the symantec web page, where the complete information and removal instructions will be given. Note it carefully or copy the instructions into a document. NOW FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTION VERY VERY CAER FULLY. (u can also try a number of free antispyware if u dont have internet connection at home)

First of all, When you delete the virus erase the Norton Antivirus , because its the worst programme about virses. The best are Panda and Kaspersky, anyway. The virus must have infected a window prog a think or if you know what file has infect go to norton/quarantine and put the file in it.I hope its not any trojan or dialer.Good Luck!!!

The message that it is being used by other programs and people is usually an indication parts of the Virus is in hidden files and folders or restore points. Nortons and other AV programs cannot access these programs, normally, to scan and remove the infection.
The procedure at this site will give you the best chance for it to remove it. Although it describe Spyware removal, the procedure is used for all Malware removal. Just use your Nortons program instead to the ones she lists. This procedure will open your computer and then have you reset the restore points (prevent reinfection). Once the virus is removed, be sure to use one of the Registry repair programs in case the removal damaged any of it.

depends what type of virus it can be,
either a trojan, spyware, or a serious virus.
norton would pick up a serious one, but at times not spyware.
i would go to the norton website and do a search on the name of the spyware. and there would be some listings.
if its a trojan? u can download the yahoo antivirus program included in the yahoo toolbar, its free and it will search ur whole computer for anything funny.
hope it works out.

it is an adware program that is running. since you know where it is, find it in your exploere window and leave it there for now. hit ctrl-alt-del and bring up the task manager. look for the a program name similar to the name of the virus. once you can find it, right click it and kill the program. once you have stopped the program from running, you can now delete it and you should be goood
another way is to copy the program and place it on your desktop. you will not be immiediately able to delete it but once you restart your computer up again, the program will not know which copy to start up. eventually it will forget about the original virus which you can then go back and delete.

Press alt+control+delete(alltogether). Go to "Processes". Check the list to see if you find "yourvirusname.exe". When you do, press end process.
If that does not work, place the virus executable (if you are able to find it) to the directory "C:/Documents and Settings/Username
Then, go to the "run" application (that on the start menu) and type CMD. (You have opened the DOS editor). Now type "DEL yourvirusname.exe.
If none works, update your antivirus, or buy (or download) a new one.

hi, maybe you can update your norton to delete the vrisu. Perhaps you can also try Macfee to remove the virus. but you need to pay for the software.
i also recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can disable all virus to run, because the virus can only run on IE.
besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.
firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.
download firefox for free:

you can try to get another virus programs
Try using Ad-Aware SE Personal.. itz free.

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
by the way, try running norton or anything else after you disconnect from the internet.
If everything seems to not work.
..you need to reformat.
put in your windows CD
and restart your computer and boot from the cd-rom drive.
good luck!
------
by the way, don't reboot your computer too much.
because.. it really can get messy.
first thing you should try is disconnect internet and run the anti virus..
then reboot to safemode and try it again.
good luck!

If the virus attacks only your OS, then you should uninstall windows, format your OS drive, then reinstall Windows...that is, if you use Windows. You can move all your other files to protect them from being wiped, but this is ONLY IF THE VIRUS ATTACKS ONLY YOUR OPERATING SYSTEM. I suggest using other virus deleting programs, such as:

I personally like CA Etrust.
