This is the sad thing about Mel Gibson's being attacked.
First of all, the story has been stretched. Mel Gibson did get picked up for being drunk. He didn't however get cheeky with the police officer because he was a Jewish officer. He got cheeky with him because he was drunk and an the guy was an officer.
Secondly, Give a fair shake. Because he has claimed to be a Christian, he has been attacked more so then most stars are. If you look online you will find that "other stars" have done worse and no one has held their feet over the fire for it and still support what they did. Take Johnny Deep, for instance. He, in an interview, said that he hated the USA and that he would not raise his kids here because he couldn't do as he wished (smoke marijuana). And yet, no one held his feet over the fire and they still support him. He hates the US but has no problems taking America's money for his movies.
Just because a person is a Christian doesn't mean that they won't mess up in their lives. I guarantee you, soon you will hear an apology by Mel Gibson for his actions but to date Johnny Depp has not done so. And Mel Gibson will still be treated differently because he choses to be a Christian.
Your right Mel Gibson isn't the only new there is. And there are more important things are happening. But the news will not change until the attacks , which are religious in nature, stop.

I don't get why there picking on him so much, Oh yeah hes the one movie that he doesn't star in "Passion of the Christ", they praised him in one instance and know rolling him in dirt, that's not cool, there just proving what Catholic say the media is doing, a Jewish plot. Im pretty sure theres better things to report on other then Mel, and thats for u as well yahoo, i saw the home page today, and the last 3 days

Yes I am sure they do. Yes there are more important things in the world than bashing Mel and the passion movie. People need to get real and concentrate on different views on life. Or get a life.......

I agree completely. We should just leave ALL celebrities alone, then Paris and Nicole would not be famous. Then we could spend more time worrying about the REAL news, not some celebrity who has done or said something stupid and has attention for a month because of it. I mean if we hear about a bombing in London one day, 2-3 days later we Americans can hardly remember it happening, but it a celebrity picks his/her nose, we hear about that for weeks!
Bring back the REAL news!!

No kidding. By the end of the first day of media coverage I felt as if the coverage actually diffused the situation. That morning, I was wondering, "what the hell? Not Mel Gibson." Then by the end of the day, it was just, "So he got drunk, get over it."

I don't think so, there's a difference between popularity and notoriety. When a movie or book comes out with bad press, it is like free advertisement. With a celebrity (not a has-been, someone with a current career), getting press as an alcoholic and anti-semite can't help bring fans to your movies.

If Mel had degraded another ethnic group, it would have been a non-event. There are a couple of groups of which you can speak no evil. Unfortunately, he degrade the one of them and they will continue to hound him. Come on, what other ethnic group has a special anti-defamation organization!!
By the way, what happened to the right of free speech. Has it now become the right of politically correct free speech.

Wow, so true... you've got me stunned!! ;) The fact that the media keeps bashing a certain celebrity for this or that reason gives the actual celebrity tons of attention! Ridiculous, huh?
