Does she need a baby-sitter? YES!!! She isn't old enough to be left alone late at night like that. Anmd if she isn't doing what she is supposed to be doing then she needs someone there to make sure things run smoothly, especially during the school year.

Maybe Reward her. Tell her if she cleans the house really good you will give ehr 15 dollars a week. Or Something. That's what my parent's did. And about the sleeping thing... She Will Soon Find out that Staying up til 3 on a school night then having to wake up at 8 in the morning is pretty harsh and she will most likely start feeling a lot more tired and goin to bed earlier. If you are TRUELY Concerned about this maybe you should sit down with her and talk about it, say how Important it is to clean up. Also You Could get a Babysitter if that's what you see fit. But She Might feel that you think she is irresponsible. Your Choice;)

I wouldn't hire a babysitter. I was the same way at that age. She'll realize in a couple MONTHS that she needs to help you out more, and then you'll become better friends with her. Sometimes I got sudden spurts of energy and would just clean the whole house like my mom. One thing you can do, if you're ok with it, is let ONE friend come over, and usually kids dont want the house to look messy with a friend coming over so they'll clean it. If she doesn't don't let her do that anymore. It will change I promise, she'll start feeling like there is a reason to clean and even though she wont WANT to, she will!

At 12... I didn't clean the house either. I didn't feel as though I was the maid. I didn't clean my room either... but thats just cuz I was lazy. Now, I do clean. I started seeing that my mom could use help and so I decided it was time to help. It's perfectly normal that a 12 year old doesn't want to clean. Why would any 12 y.o. willingly clean up the house? Perhaps try setting a chore schedule. Just don't overload it and don't expect EVERYTHING to be done by her and allow it to be flexible. Good luck.

Its your 12 year old daughter not your maid. Why did you have a child anyways? Keep the house clean?

Why is a 12 year old home alone for anyways?

Yes get a babysitter for your daughter.

A babysitter may be worse, get a trusted aunt (your bro or sis)to take care of her. It will make her think twice about everything she does as in if the house is a mess your bro or sis will see It and your daughter will be embarrassed which will push her to do chores and do homework.

Well If you want my opinion I used to do that to my mom and still do! But im only 13 my mom got me to do my chores and homework by giving me an allowance! I dont go to bed till 5:00 sometimes but hey its summer vacation and if she has to get up early and she stays up so late its her fault not yours!

Let your daughter know that you expected her to be responsible and since she will not do the chores she is responsible for or go to bed when she should that you were wrong in your judgement that she was ready to stay home alone. Hire a sitter.

Yes I think you should get a sitter. For the most part because this day and age 12 is to young to be home alone especialy late at night.

Let's see - my guess is that you feed her and buy her clothing and do he laundry. STOP all of that until she does her chores, homework and goes to bed at a reasonable time. Tell her she has one week to shape up and then your plan goes into effect. Don't back down.
